Machinery Center and Disk Machine, Washing Machine, Three-dimensional Testing Devices and other specialized machines, which constitute seven changeable production lines mainly for production of all key parts for engines. There are three assembly lines and some supporting and testing machines that can produce 600,000 engines. Motorcycle production is the major industry of Zhongyu Group. There are frame, fuel tank and plastic painting parts production workshops, surface coating line, three partial assembly lines, three complete assembly lines and one examination line. With these facilities, the company can manufacture 400,000 units of motorcycles every year. The main products include more than 60 different models of motorcycles, scooters, mopeds and ATVs. Technology Development During the "No.1 Engineering Project of 2001", sponsored by Tianjin Motor Technology Institute, for motorcycle engine technology and quality inspection in China, 5 samplings of Zhongyu engines were compared with corresponding products of Japanese Honda Corporation. While the engines displayed their similar technical properties with their counterparts. Zhongyu also went through 420 hours endurance test which is more than 4 times of the national standard of 100 hours. Marketing Zhongyu has two categories of product marketing: motorcycle and engine, which are sold on both domestic market and international market. Apart from supply for its own motorcycle, Zhongyu engine is also on sale for other motorcycle manufacturer and in the international market. In 2002, its export volume was 20% of Chinese total engine export. Zhongyu engine enjoys a nice fame in Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia. In its recent marketing strategy, Zhongyu will pay more attention to the international market besides stabilizing its domestic sale. As of 1999, Zhongyu accelerates its motorcycle and engine exportation with double speed every year. In 2002, its export earning was USD35,020,000, and ranked the fifth among Chinese motorcycle industry, and the top among that of Guangdong. In 2003, its export earning was USD70,700,000, and ranked the top in Guangdong Province's motorcycle industry. In 2005, its export earning was USD62,520,000, and ranked the eighth among Chinese motorcycle industry. Zhongyu Group has set 80 million US dollars as its export target by the year of 2006. Up to now, the products are exported to more than 80 countries and different areas. There are also 100 foreign clients, who are mainly located in Middle East, Southeast Asia, South Asia, South America, the United States, European countries and regions. In 1999, before its execution of "going abroad" policy, Zhongyu invested in Kampuchea for a wholly-shared factory, which made Zhongyu the first Guangdong supporting enterprise that performed processing-trade in foreign market.
