Material inspection guide for caster TPR plastic injection molding before processing
According to the characteristics and feeding conditions of materials, the appearance and process
performance of materials shall be tested before forming. The supplied materials often contain varying
degrees of moisture, flux and other volatile low molecular substances, especially the casters with
moisture absorption tendency. The moisture content of TPR always exceeds the allowable limit for
processing. Therefore, drying treatment must be carried out before processing, and the water
content must be measured. At high temperature, the moisture content of caster TPR is required
to be less than 5%, or even 2% ~ 3%. Therefore, vacuum drying oven is commonly used to dry
at 75 ℃ ~ 90 ℃ for 2 hours. The dried materials must be properly sealed and stored to prevent
the materials from re absorbing moisture from the air and losing the drying effect. Therefore, the
hopper in the drying chamber can continuously provide dry hot materials for the injection molding
machine, which is beneficial to simplify the operation, keep clean, improve the quality and increase
the injection rate. The loading capacity of the drying hopper is generally 2.5 times of the hourly
consumption of the injection molding machine. SBC based TPE is superior to most other caster TPR
materials in color. Therefore, they only need a small amount of color masterbatch to achieve a specific
color effect, and the resulting color is more pure than other caster TPR. Generally speaking, the
viscosity of Color Masterbatch should be lower than that of caster TPR, because the melt index of caster
TPR is higher than that of Color Masterbatch, which will be conducive to the dispersion process and make
the color distribution more uniform.
